The aim of Therapy247.com is to help people with afflictions to conquer self defeating behaviour. We need some form of order or path to follow such as following "the A's", following a "Just for Today" guide or sharing your story. Keywords and affirmations are good ways of centering our behaviour and thinking. Let us know how you are doing via a daily blog or by joining a Therapy 247 Club and sharing with us your triumphs and your set backs. Remember, we know how you feel! Share what you have done TODAY to attack your problem with other Therapy 247 members. Sharing your experiences can help so many people including yourself! How it works

Therapy247 is a social networking site similar to facebook and MySpace. Therapy247.com is used by people who are suffering from any type of illness and people who are willing to help those in need of advice.

Therapy247 can be used anonymously. You can hide your identity by creating an alias name when you sign up and get help or offer help anonymously.

Creating an account

Step 1

Click on the "Join" link at the top or left of the page.

Enter your personal information (use an alias if you wish).

Create a password.

Type in the characters you see in the box, exactly how they appear.

Dont forget to click to accept the terms and conditions!

Click "Next".

Step 2

You will now be asked to enter a verification number. This number will have been sent to the email address you entered on the previous screen. Go to your email account and copy the number, enter it into the box displayed in step 2 and click "Next" (instructions are included in the email)..

Step 3

Enter your location, gender and birth date, you can choose to hide these details.

Upload a photograph or picture if you wish (optional).

Click "Next"

Step 4

Why not invite some friends? Enter your friends email addresses into the empty boxes (optional) and click "Finish".

Well done! You are now ready to start using all the of the great features that Therapy 247 has to offer.

 

Where do I start?

Create a Personal Profile

You can start by creating your personal profile.

Other users who add you to their network will be able to see this profile, it represents you to other users.

Complete the information on the page and add some information about yourself it can be anything! Are you in need of help? Do you wish to help other members? Would you like to meet other members with the same problems so you can share help and advice? Add any of this information into the empty field at the bottom of the page.

Your profile has been created! You will now be taken to a page showing your profile.

, click on "My Therapy 247", situated at the top left of the screen. Then click on "edit profile" situated under my brief.


 

Joining a club

To join a club, click on "Therapy Clubs" in the top navigation bar once logged in.

You can browse through the clubs on this page or search for a specific therapy related club.

One you have found the club you would like to join click on it and you will be taken to the page of the requested club. Click on "Join Club" under "My Options" on the right hand side of the screen.

Club Forums

You will now be able to meet and talk to other members of this club by using the club forum section on the page.

Click on "Open Forum", you will be taken to the forum for the club you have joined. You can add a new topic to the forum or comment on other users messages. All messages in the club forum are accessed by members of the club only.

Creating a Club

Creating a club is a great way to help out members who are suffering from an affliction. If for example you are a member of an an AA meeting group, you can set up the group online and chat to membersabout there recovery. You can make the club private so only members your meeting can access it. You will be able to set up dates of meetings and share help and ideas from the club.

Log into Therapy247, and click on "Therapy Clubs"

You will be taken to the create club step one.

Here you need to set up the title and description of the club as well as the location if you wish.

Choose whether it is public or private.

Add a full description explaining what the club is about and click next.

You will be asked whether you would like to upload a picture (optional)

Now you can select members of your friends list to invite to your club or enter your friends email addresses and get them to join.

If you do not wish to invite your friends click "cancel", congratulations, your club has been created!

 

Creating a blog

Creating a blog is a great way to get your problems off your chest and sharing them anonymously (if you wish) with other members. Other members of Therapy247 can give you feedback and offer advice. You can also browse through blogs and search for members who may be suffering from similar problems. Login to your Therapy247 account. Click on "members blogs". You will now be able to view blogs posted by Therapy247 members, browse through the blogs or search for a keyword by typing it into the search box on the right and searching.

You can create your own blog by clicking on the "create blog" button shown on the example below.

Step 1 - Basic Info

Slect who you would like to be able to see the blog, use the drop down menu to select.

Create an address for your blog by entering a description in the box "http://therapy247.com/blogs/______"

Enter some tags. Tags are used to help people find your blog on Therapy247 the more specific "key words" you add in here, the more likely people will be able to find your blog.

Enter a title for your blog, this will appear on the blog as the title.

Click next when you are done.

Step 2 Add Blog Post

Select a photo you would like to add to your blog (this is optional).

Add a title for your post, a summary of what the text is about.

Then write your blog!

Why not experiment with making a blog? You can always delete it if you are not happy with it!

members are not limited to just one blog and can start a blog for each topic they want to share their throughts for

What is the control panel and how do I use it?

Once you have logged into your Therapy247 account you will have access to your own control panel, here you can:

bookmark a page for future reference (a blog, club, profile or anything you wish)

check your mailbox for private messages from other members

use a calender to set reminders or goals for your recovery

check your history (pages you have visted)

view your own profile

use the IM manager (Instant Message Manager) to see which of your friends are online and send them private messages instantly.

The control panel is located at the top of the screen once you have logged in.

Bookmark a page

So you have found a page that maybe of use to you, you can bookmark this page or future reference. To bookmark the page click on "bookmark" in your control panel. You will now see a list of social bookmarks you can use to save the page for future refence, select one and save.

To view your past bookmarks click on "bookmarks" at the top of the page, your saved pages will be listed.

Your mailbox

Here you can see if anyone has sent you any new messages, invitations, testimonials, feedback, announcements or actions.

Do not have any mail yet? Make new friends by joining a club, creating a blog or comment on blogs, clubs or members.

Your calender

Use your calender to set events, make a personal diary or set targets for recovery. Click on "calender" in your control panel. You will now be taken to your personal calender.

Add a personal event

Choose a title and description of your event and add reminders.

You will be able to add notes at a later date to comment on. This calender feature can be used as a personal diary.

 

 

 

Share your experiences with other members and get help...

Share your problems with other Therapy 247 members for free by joining. You can help other members by giving advice. Sharing your advice and problems with others is an effective form of Therapy. There are people out there who can help or you can make a difference to somebodys life by sharing your knowledge or coping strategies.

If you are in need of help or advice just ask by creating a blog, a lot of people have already benefitted by having someone to talk to. You can keep your blogs private or share them with other users. Documenting your problems in a blog can be a great for of theraoy, try it it's free.
